2008 Clive Festival Portrait Contest

Get ready for the best Clive Festival Portrait Contest yet.  This year's contest feature's expanded complimentary portrait sessions, three exciting new categories covering children of ages 2-18, and fantastic prizes.  There is no fee to enter and no obligation to purchase anything.  Don't wait to take advantage of this special opportunity to create  unique art portraits of your children.

Important Changes to the 2008 Contest

Due to demand for contest portrait sessions and to provide greater quality and variety in contestant portraits, we have expanded portrait sessions to be scheduled on several different dates prior to the festival.  And for added convenience, all sessions will be conducted by appointment so there will be no waiting for families this year.  We will still be conducting portrait selection and ordering sessions on Thursday, June 19th (the first day of the festival) at the community room adjacent to the Clive Aquatic Center.  All portrait sessions, however, will be conducted prior to that date.

2008 Portrait Contest Process

1. Portrait sessions will be conducted with contestants on scheduled dates between May 30th and June 14th.  All sessions are by appointment and can be scheduled by contacting Photojeania at 888.482.5735.

2. Photojeania will select and enhance one portrait for each contestant.  These portraits will be posted to the Photojeania Blog, by category no later than June 16th.  Contestant families are encouraged to share the blog post with their friends and family and encourage comments.  These comments will help our honorary judges with their decision making.
3. Families may schedule a selection and ordering appointment on June 19th to view all of the images from their children's session and choose an alternate image to be submitted to the judges in lieu of the image selected by Photojeania.  Families may also order prints, packages, and other products with the images from their children's session at a 25% discount during their ordering session.  Items may be purchased after the selection and ordering session at regular studio prices.
4. Judges will choose the best portrait from each category on Friday June 20th and winners will be posted to this web page by 5:00 PM.
5. Winners will be expected to participate in the Clive Festival Parade on the morning of June 21st and can pick up their prizes at the Community Room adjacent the Clive Aquatic Center at the conclusion of the parade.

Contest Categories

Flower Girls (Ages 2-10)

Young girls, beautiful dresses, and flowers.

How to Dress:
Like a flower girl in a wedding in a white or cream dress or in a light colored sun dress.  Avoid busy plaids, prints, or dark and mid-toned clothing.  We have a variety of flowered garlands to wear, but feel free to bring your own flowers to be different.  Don't hesitate to accessorize with white gloves, pearls, colored headbands, or bright colored accessories to add a touch of color to your portraits.  Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at 888.482.5735.

Portrait Sessions:

BQ Boys (Ages 2-10)

When you think BQ Boys - think GQ Magazine Covers for kids.  BQ Boys are sharp dressed, sophisticated, and full of personality.  Contestants will grace the cover of their own BQ Magazine.  Contestants will be judged on how well they grace the cover of their BQ magazine including how stylishly they are dressed, self-confidence, and attitude.

Real Sports (Ages 10-18)

Real Sports portraits are image composites that celebrate real athletes with a variety of posed and action portraits.  Portraits are judged on how well you look like an athlete (e.g. expression, dress, intensity).  Prizes will be awarded to the best Male and Female contestants.

Gift Certificates for Local Sports Retailers

How to Dress:
Come to the portrait session as though you are going to compete in a game: e.g. uniform, hat, helmet, pads, cleats, balls, bats, gloves, clubs, pom poms, face paint, rackets.  The more you dress like an athlete, the more realistic your portraits will be and the better you'll score with the judges.  Oh, and don't forget your game face.
